Wastewater Treatment Plant for Open Country Dairy, Waharoa
The new Waharoa Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is designed to remove pollution from the
wastewater produced in the Open Country Dairy factory at Waharoa prior to discharge into the river.
The WWTP employs predominantly biochemical processes to remove organic pollutants through
anaerobic digestion and aerobic oxidation. Nitrogen is removed via biological nitrification and
denitrification processes. Phosphorus will be removed by bacterial take-up and Solid material is removed
by mechanical separation using membrane filtration.
IPCS is the R&D automation partner for this project.
